Everyone loves chocolate because it is so tasty, however, there is more to this delicious treat that nourishes the body and is great before working out. Dark chocolate aids in energy-boosting and it is filled with antioxidants, it improves heart health and increases brainpower.

This may seem wild but eating a small piece of dark chocolate before your workout is super beneficial. It may not be the sweetest, but it packs a lot of benefits for the body.

#7 Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is packed with protein and carbs both of which are perfect for pre-work out fuel. Although high in calories, experts say these calories are useful in providing the necessary energy throughout your workout.

Using peanut butter is easy, mix it in a shake, as a dip for fruit, or just on its own. There are very few people who don’t love peanut butter. Except maybe those who are allergic to peanuts and that is for good reason. Who wouldn’t want a PB & J before an intense workout? Yummy!

#6 Water

Drinking water is great before, after, and during your workout to maintain good hydration. Water is an essential fuel when working out, you should drink at least 7 ounces every 20 minutes during the workout.

Drinking water after exercising helps to make up for the fluid loss from sweating and it regulates your body temperature. You can also add fruits to your water for flavor. Don’t forget to get your intake of water daily based on your body index, it helps!

#5 Beef

Red meat can be seen as a muscle-building multivitamin, if you are a bodybuilder you should always be taking it. Beef is super high in protein and rich in iron which helps to build those muscles nicely.

It is simple to prepare and rewarding after a hard workout session. Now we see why bodybuilders love steak! Maybe its the food of champions!
