#12: Minnesota
Minnesota has dropped from among the top 10 states in America as one of the safest in the country. This due to the violent crime rate standing at 2.2 per 1000 and 22 per 1000. This is not the highest in the country but it is certainly not as good as some of the other states you will find here.
#11: Massachusetts
Massachusetts has lost much ground when it comes to being one of the safest states in America. It has a violent crime rate of 3.02 per 1000 and the property crime rate is 57% of the national average. These statistics make Massachusetts a very safe state to live in ranking as one of the lower states in the northeast.
#10: Kentucky
Kentucky is still a very safe place to live even though it is much higher than some at the number 10 spot. It has a violent crime rate of 2.26 per 100 and 21.29 per 1000 for property crime. This also indicates that the average for Kentucky for crime is still below the national average of the United States.
#9: Wyoming
Taking a spot on the top 10 safest states in the United States of America is Wyoming with a low violent crime rate, yet its most crime incidents are aggravated assault. Overall the state is very safe but there is also property crime so like any other state you will hear of the occasional break-in.
