#5 Collies

Another great dog breed for you and your family is Collies which in particular have a reputation for being kind and calm. They can live for about 14-16 years and that’s is quite a long time to have a dog around the home being one of the family.

This one of the longest living dog bre4eds on the list and is very popular in North America, with one becoming a star along time ago.

#4 St. Bernard

The St. Bernard is a very child friendly and a very large dog with an ancient history of rescuing people who were trapped in snow and mountainous areas.

They usually live for about 8-10 years and are gentle with their owners despite their massive size. Their short life span could be due to the size of the dog causing health problems.

#3 Weimaraner

Weimaraners are durable and have a lot of energy. They have a spectacular shape and some have very unique looking colors. They are very smart and trainable which is a trait you want in your dog.

They can live for about 10-12 years, so they are the type of companion you would have around for a long time. Not as long as some others but long enough.

#2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel are bred to be companions and are often called the comforter spaniel. These dogs are a smaller breed than some of the others mentioned before but small dogs are very alert and protective of their family. They can live for about 9-14 years. Based on this information, you could have this breed around for many years.

#1 French bulldog

The French bulldog, a family-friendly dog that is still physically durable. This breed is very popular with many individuals. It is a smaller dog than some of the others as well but will prove a great addition to any family. They usually live for about 10-12 years.

In my opinion these are some of the best dogs a family can have at their home. I am aware that everyone wouldn’t agree with my choice of dogs and that is alright. It is just an opinion and I hope you found the list interesting. If your favorite dog breed wasn’t included, please forgive me.
